SUMMARY: Designed and created website for a carpentry company as a collaborative project with two other students using HTML & CSS. I served as the project’s point-of-contact for the client. The overall look was created by another student but later enhanced by myself. To create a more comprehensive content management system for the client, I converted the website into WordPress.org. I also created a new logo and set up and manage Google Analytics.
PROBLEM: Paul Wolter and Robert Ast of Gem City Carpentry, LLC create fine-quality remodeling projects and historic preservation. Previously, they have thrived solely on word-of-mouth marketing but recently wanted to match that with a website to showcase their beautiful handiwork, announce their testimonials, and attract potential clients. As traditional handymen, they wanted little to no web upkeep and minimal design for easy viewing that focused on their carpentry work.
PROCESS & PRODUCT: After meeting with Gem City Carpentry and determining the goals, two other students and I each submitted design possibilities. The background with dark wood texture was chosen and paired with a classic serif font. These submissions were then merged and coded into a website written in HTML & CSS. As the remaining project member, I converted the website into WordPress.org as a more comprehensive content management system for future editing. I added a new set of photo galleries were added for better usability. To match the fine-crafted details found in GCC’s work, I created a new logo and made other stylistic changes to the website.
